For flash flood alerts and water levels in drains and canals, see PUB's flood alerts at pub.gov.sg. This page shows rain gauge readings, not flood warnings.

How this works

Rainfall comes live from the National Environment Agency (NEA) through data.gov.sg. NEA's rain gauges (about 90 across the island) each report the rain that fell in the last 5 minutes, in millimetres. This page checks for new readings every 2 minutes and adds up the last 6, 12 or 24 readings for the 30-minute, 1-hour and 2-hour totals. Each total shows the period it covers, in Singapore time.

Search a postal code, street or place and the page finds it on OneMap (SLA) and shows the nearest gauge and how far away it is. Rain can be very local, so a gauge a few kilometres away can read differently from what you see outside.

Lightning comes from NEA's lightning observations on data.gov.sg: every strike recorded in roughly the last 50 minutes within 40 km of central Singapore, marked as cloud to ground or cloud to cloud.

This page shows measured rain, not forecasts or flood warnings. For flash flood alerts and drain water levels, see PUB (pub.gov.sg); for forecasts, see NEA's weather.gov.sg.

FAQs

Where is it raining in Singapore right now?

The map and list above show every NEA rain gauge that recorded rain in the latest 5-minute reading, heaviest first, with the amount in millimetres. Switch to 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours for the running total.

How often are rainfall readings updated?

NEA's rain gauges report a 5-minute rainfall total every 5 minutes. This page checks for new readings every 2 minutes and shows the time each total covers.

Is there lightning in Singapore now?

The lightning section counts every strike NEA recorded within 40 km of central Singapore in roughly the last 50 minutes, and how many were cloud to ground. Strikes over Singapore are marked on the map.

Where can I check for flash floods?

PUB issues flash flood alerts and publishes drain and canal water levels at pub.gov.sg. This page shows rain gauge readings only, which can help you see where heavy rain is falling.
