How much do GP clinics charge in Singapore?

GP fees are set by each clinic and are not regulated. These are consultation-only rates published by clinic chains and collated in June 2026; medicine, tests and procedures are billed on top. CHAS, Merdeka and Pioneer subsidies are deducted at participating clinics.

Consultation only. Neighbourhood chains sit at the low end; hospital-linked and airport clinics at the top.

  • Consultation after midnight (24-hour clinics)

    S$78–S$130 per visit

Late-night surcharges apply from about 10pm at some chains

  • Screen for Life health screening (eligible citizens)

    S$0–S$5 per screening

$0 for Healthier SG enrollees at their clinic and Pioneer Generation; $2 Merdeka/CHAS Blue/Orange; $5 others

  • CHAS subsidy, simple chronic condition

    S$28–S$90 off per visit

Green $28 up to Pioneer $90; annual caps $112–$360

What licence should a GP clinic have?

  • Outpatient Medical Service licence

Ministry of Health (Healthcare Services Act) · Required by law

Every GP clinic must be licensed by MOH to provide outpatient medical services. Endoscopy, liposuction and ECG stress testing are separately approved 'specified services'.

  • Medical registration and Practising Certificate

Singapore Medical Council · Required by law

Every doctor must be on SMC's Register of Medical Practitioners and hold a current Practising Certificate.

  • CHAS-participating clinic

Ministry of Health · Optional accreditation

Clinics opt in to CHAS. Subsidies for CHAS, Merdeka and Pioneer Generation cardholders apply only at participating clinics.

How to choose a GP clinic

  • If you have a chronic condition, enrol with one Healthier SG clinic. Enhanced chronic-medication subsidies (up to 87.5% for Pioneer and 81.25% for Merdeka seniors on selected drugs, with no dollar cap) only apply at the clinic you are enrolled with.
  • Ask for the consultation fee before you see the doctor. Daytime rates across chains ranged from about $16 to $65 in mid-2026, so the same visit can cost four times as much a few blocks away.
  • For long-term medicines, ask whether a cheaper generic exists, or ask for a written prescription to fill at a retail pharmacy or compare with polyclinic prices.
  • Check the late-night surcharge. After midnight, 24-hour clinics charged about $78–130 just to consult; if it can wait until morning, it usually should. Real emergencies belong at A&E.
  • Confirm the doctor's registration on the SMC register (MOH Professional Registration System) if you are seeing someone new.

Red flags

  • The clinic will not tell you the consultation fee until after you have seen the doctor.
  • Time-limited promotions, free check-ups bundled with sales, or credit-card tie-ups: SMC's Ethical Code bars doctors from these financial inducements.
  • Patient testimonials in the clinic's own advertising, which SMC's Ethical Code prohibits.
  • The doctor is not on SMC's register or has no current Practising Certificate.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Are you a CHAS clinic, and which card tiers do you accept?
  • Are you a Healthier SG clinic, and can I enrol here?
  • What is the consultation fee before subsidy, and roughly what will the medicine cost?
  • Is there a generic version of this medicine?
  • Do you charge extra for MCs, memos or after-hours visits?

Questions about GP clinics in Singapore

How much does it cost to see a GP in Singapore?

Each clinic sets its own fees. Consult-only rates at clinic chains ranged from about $16 to $65 in the daytime as of June 2026, and about $78–130 after midnight at 24-hour clinics. Medicine, tests and procedures are added. If you hold a CHAS, Merdeka or Pioneer Generation card, the subsidy is deducted at participating clinics, for example up to $18.50 per common-illness visit for CHAS Blue.

What are the CHAS income limits for Blue, Orange and Green?

All Singapore Citizens qualify for CHAS. From 1 January 2025, tiers go by household monthly income per person: Blue at $1,500 and below, Orange at $1,501–2,300, Green above $2,300. Households with no income are assessed by the home's Annual Value: Blue at $21,000 and below, Orange at $21,001–31,000, Green above $31,000. Green gets chronic and screening subsidies but not common-illness subsidies.

What do I get from enrolling in Healthier SG?

Singapore Citizens and PRs can enrol with one GP clinic or polyclinic. Participating clinics list a free first health-plan consultation, free nationally recommended screenings and vaccinations, and $20 of Healthpoints after onboarding. CHAS cardholders also get the Healthier SG chronic tier, with enhanced subsidies on selected chronic medicines. These subsidies apply only at the clinic you enrol with.

Can I use my CHAS card at a polyclinic?

CHAS subsidies are for participating private GP and dental clinics. Polyclinics have their own subsidised rates instead; for example, citizens get up to 75% off Standard Drug List medicines if their household income per person is $2,300 or less. For long-term prescriptions, compare your CHAS GP's price with the polyclinic before deciding where to fill them.

How do I check if a doctor is registered in Singapore?

Search the doctor's name on MOH's Professional Registration System, which the Singapore Medical Council links to as its official register. It shows whether the doctor is registered, the type of registration, any specialist accreditation and whether they hold a current Practising Certificate. A doctor without a valid Practising Certificate cannot legally practise.
