How Lookup works
Lookup is a directory of 52,729 Singapore businesses built from public records rather than paid submissions. Every listing starts from government open data (ACRA registrations, and licence registers from SFA, NEA, MOH, ECDA, BCA and others) and open map data, so you can see whether a business is licensed, how long it has been registered and how far it is from the nearest MRT exit.
Search by what you need and where, for example “aircon servicing in Bedok” or “vet near Tampines MRT”, or browse a category to compare businesses side by side. Category pages add typical prices from sourced price guides, the licence to check, red flags and questions to ask before you book. Food pages cover every hawker centre and mall, with NEA cleaning closures.
Rankings come from verifiable signals only: licence matches, years in business and how complete the public record is. Businesses can claim their free listing; Featured listings are always labelled and never change the order. Read our methodology.
Questions about Lookup
Is Lookup free to use?
Yes. Searching, comparing businesses, the price guides and every tool are free, with no sign-up. Businesses also get a free listing; only the optional Featured upgrade is paid.
How does Lookup check whether a business is licensed?
We match each business against Singapore's public registers, such as SFA food licences, NEA licensed operators, MOH clinics and CHAS, ECDA preschools and BCA contractors, using names, addresses and UENs. A matched licence shows on the listing with the issuing agency.
Why don't free listings show a phone number or website?
Contact details are only shown when a business has claimed and verified its listing, so you are not sent to outdated or wrong numbers. Free listings still show the address, nearest MRT, licences and how long the business has been registered.
How are businesses ranked?
By verifiable signals only: licence matches, years in business and how complete the public record is (photos, opening hours, registration details). Featured listings are labelled and never change the organic order.
Where do the prices come from?
Each category's price guide cites its sources, such as published rate cards, government fee schedules and surveys, and every guide shows the date it was last updated. Prices are typical ranges, not quotes from a specific business.
