Updated October 2026How we rank
Polyclinics are Singapore's subsidised public primary care clinics. Citizens get up to 75% off Standard Drug List medicines, and polyclinics are Healthier SG enrolment sites, so screening is free once you are enrolled. CHAS cards are for private clinics; polyclinics have their own subsidised rates. Expect longer waits for non-urgent dental work.

How to choose a polyclinic

  • Enrol in Healthier SG at the polyclinic or a GP you will actually visit; screenings and vaccinations under the national schedule are then free at that clinic.
  • Book an appointment ahead where your polyclinic allows it, rather than walking in at peak hours.
  • For a quick consult near home or after hours, a CHAS GP may be faster and, with your CHAS subsidy, cost similar.
  • For dental care, polyclinics are cheap but have waits; CHAS private dental clinics are an alternative if you have a Blue, Orange, Merdeka or Pioneer card.

Questions about polyclinics in Singapore

Can I use my CHAS card at a polyclinic?

CHAS subsidies are designed for participating private GP and dental clinics. Polyclinics instead charge their own subsidised rates, for example up to 75% off Standard Drug List medicines for citizens. Compare both routes for long-term care, especially if you are enrolled in Healthier SG.

How much are medicines at a polyclinic?

Singapore Citizens get 75% off Standard Drug List medicines if their household income per person is $2,300 or less, and 50% if above. Permanent Residents get 25% off. For citizens without a CHAS card, a polyclinic is usually still the cheapest place to fill a long-term prescription.

Should I enrol in Healthier SG at a polyclinic or a GP?

Either gives the same standard of chronic care. Choose the one you can visit most easily, since Healthier SG benefits such as free nationally recommended screening and chronic-medicine subsidies apply only at the clinic you enrol with. CHAS cardholders enrolled at a GP can get enhanced Healthier SG chronic-tier subsidies there.
