How this works
Fines and points are from the Singapore Police Force's list of offences with demerit points and composition fines (page updated 23 July 2026). Light vehicles are Class 2B, 2A, 2, 3C, 3, 3CA and 3A (cars, motorcycles, light vans); heavy vehicles are Class 4, 4A, 4P, 4AP, 5 and 5P (lorries, buses, tractors, trailers). Speeding up to 20 km/h over the limit is 6 points and S$200 (S$250 heavy), 21 to 30 km/h over is 8 points and S$300 (S$400), 31 to 40 km/h over is 12 points and S$400 (S$500). Above 40 km/h over, the case goes to court.
Offences marked as endangering pedestrians carry 2 extra demerit points and S$100 more when committed in a School Zone, Silver Zone or Friendly Streets, with the fine capped at S$500. A composition fine is an offer: Traffic Police can still prosecute in court, where the full penalties apply.
Under the Driver Improvement Points System in force until 31 December 2026, an experienced driver is suspended at 24 points within 24 months (12 weeks for a first suspension), at 12 points within 12 months after a previous suspension (24 weeks), and a new driver's licence is revoked at 13 points within the one-year probation. Points are cleared after 12 months without an offence.
From 1 January 2027, the threshold drops to 18 points within 24 months and the first suspension lengthens to four months; probationary licences are revoked at 12 points; 24-point offences become 18 points. On that date, up to 6 points (1 point for probationary drivers) are deducted once from existing balances. The tracker lets you switch between the two sets of rules.
