Free · No sign-up · Updated October 2026
Search SEAB's approved calculator list (updated 9 September 2026) to see if your model is allowed for PSLE, N(T), N(A), O and A-Level exams, including graphing models.

Brand optional. Spaces, dashes and capitals don't matter.

Popular models on the current list

Graphing calculators must be reset before the exam, and every calculator must be silent, show its brand and model number, and have its memory cleared. Instruction leaflets with formulae aren't allowed in the hall.

How this works

The checker searches SEAB's list of approved calculators, transcribed from the Annex A list updated on 9 September 2026. It has three parts: the current approved scientific models (such as the Casio fx-97SG X and the new fx-97SG CW, approved 2026 to 2030), the current approved graphing models, and the much longer list of previously approved models, which can all still be used.

Approved scientific calculators can be used for PSLE Mathematics and Foundation Mathematics and for GCE N(T), N(A), O and A-Level examinations. Graphing calculators (the Casio fx-9860GIIs and the TI-84 Plus CE family, on the listed operating system versions) are allowed only in subjects examined at H1, H2 and H3 Levels of the A-Level curriculum, and must be reset before each paper.

An approved period is how long a model stays on the current list while it is on sale. When it ends, the model moves to the previously approved list and remains allowed. SEAB can withdraw approval if policy, syllabus or exam format changes, and says schools and the public will get at least two years' notice.

Matching ignores spaces, dashes and capitals, but the model number must otherwise be exact: the Casio fx-991ES PLUS and fx-991EX are not on the list, though the older fx-991D, N, S and V are.

FAQs

Is the Casio fx-97SG X allowed for O-Levels?

Yes. The fx-97SG X is on SEAB's current approved list (2018 to 2026) and, once that period ends, moves to the previously approved list and stays allowed. Its successor, the fx-97SG CW, is approved from 2026 to 2030.

Can I use a graphing calculator for A-Levels?

Only for subjects examined at H1, H2 and H3 Levels, and only approved models such as the TI-84 Plus CE (on approved OS versions) or Casio fx-9860GIIs. Graphing calculators must be reset before the exam and aren't allowed for O-Level or PSLE.

Is the Casio fx-991ES PLUS SEAB approved?

No. The fx-991ES PLUS isn't on SEAB's approved or previously approved lists. Only the older fx-991D, fx-991N, fx-991S and fx-991V appear in the 991 range.

Which calculators can be used for PSLE?

Any model on SEAB's approved scientific list, such as the Casio fx-97SG X, fx-97SG CW or fx-82MS, Sharp EL-W531S II, Canon F-960SG or HP 10S+. Graphing calculators are not allowed.

What features must an exam calculator have?

SEAB requires the four operations with brackets, fractions in a/b and a b/c form, square and cube roots, and π. It must be silent, non-programmable, with no wireless link, external storage or text storage, and no numerical integration or differentiation.
