How this works
Singapore has no general minimum wage. Instead, Progressive Wages set minimum wages that rise each year and with each job level in specific sectors: cleaning, security, landscape, lift and escalator, retail, food services and waste management, plus administrators and drivers in any firm that employs foreign workers. They cover Singapore citizens and PRs. Cleaning, security (outsourced), landscape and lift and escalator wages are basic wages; retail, food services, waste management, administrators, drivers and in-house security are gross wages (basic plus allowances and productivity incentives, excluding overtime, bonuses and employer CPF).
As at October 2026, a full-time outsourced office general cleaner must earn at least S$2,080 basic a month (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027), a security officer S$3,090 (2026), a retail assistant S$2,435 gross (1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027), a quick-service kitchen assistant S$2,295 gross and an administrative assistant S$2,170 gross (both from 1 July 2026). Part-time requirements are pro-rated on a 44-hour week, or set as hourly rates where MOM publishes them.
Every other local employee at a firm that hires foreign workers must be paid at least the Local Qualifying Salary for the firm to count them towards its work pass quota: S$1,800 a month for full-time work from 1 July 2026 (S$1,600 before), or S$10.50 an hour for part-time work. Workfare then tops up the pay of lower-wage workers aged 30 and above.
