How this works

Zakat on wealth is due when what you own reaches the nisab and you have held it for a haul of one Hijri year (355 days). MUIS sets the nisab each month as the value of 86 grams of gold; for October 2026 it is S$15,584. The nisab field is editable, so you can use the figure for the month your haul ends, from zakat.sg.

Following the MUIS guides: zakat on savings is 2.5% of the lowest balance held during the haul (for several accounts, the lowest combined balance at a single point in time). Zakat on gold not worn (bars, bullion, investment jewellery) is 2.5% of its value when the total reaches 86 grams; jewellery worn is only zakatable if a piece reaches the uruf of 860 grams. Zakat on shares, ETFs, unit trusts and REITs is 2.5% of their market value at the end of the haul or financial year.

Zakat fitrah for Ramadan 1447H (2026) is S$5.00 per person at the normal rate or S$8.00 at the higher rate, as announced by MUIS on 16 February 2026. Fidyah is S$4.00 per day from 1 Syawal 1447H.
