How this works
Workfare Income Supplement (WIS) tops up the pay of lower-wage Singapore citizens aged 30 and above (age at 31 December of the work year), or persons with disabilities of any age. For Work Year 2026, employees qualify in any month their gross income is S$500 to S$3,000, as long as their average over the past 12 months is S$3,000 or less. The home must have an annual value of S$21,000 or less, you (and your spouse) may own at most one property, and a spouse's assessable income must be S$70,000 or less.
The payout follows CPF Board's Work Year 2026 formula: it rises with income from S$500, is highest between S$1,700 and S$2,300, and tapers to zero at S$3,000. The maximum is S$2,450 a year for ages 30 to 34, S$3,500 for 35 to 44, S$4,200 for 45 to 59 and S$4,900 for 60 and above. Employees get 40% in cash and 60% in CPF.
Self-employed persons and platform workers get two-thirds of the employee amount (up to S$1,633, S$2,333, S$2,800 and S$3,267 a year by age band), paid 10% in cash and 90% into MediSave. Self-employed Workfare is paid once a year after net trade income is declared and MediSave contributions are paid; we multiply the monthly figure by 12 as an estimate.
