How this works

The Silver Support Scheme pays a quarterly cash supplement to Singapore citizens aged 65 and above who had low incomes over their working life and have little family support. You qualify if your total CPF contributions by age 55 were S$140,000 or less (for the self-employed, an average net trade income of S$27,600 a year or less from age 45 to 54), you live in a 1- to 5-room HDB flat, neither you nor your spouse owns a 5-room or larger flat, private property or more than one property, and your household income is S$2,300 a month per person or less.

Since the 2025 enhancement, the payout per quarter is S$1,080 in a 1- or 2-room flat, S$860 in a 3-room flat, S$650 in a 4-room flat and S$430 in a 5-room flat you live in but don't own, when household income per person is up to S$1,500 a month. From S$1,501 to S$2,300 per person the payout is halved: S$540, S$430, S$325 and S$215. Seniors on ComCare Long-Term Assistance get S$430 a quarter.

Household income per person is the household's total monthly income divided by the number of people in it. Payments are automatic: the January to March quarter is paid on 31 December, then 31 March, 30 June and 30 September. Rates and rules here are from MOM and CPF Board as of October 2026.

FAQs

How much is Silver Support per quarter in 2026?

S$215 to S$1,080 a quarter: S$1,080 in a 1- or 2-room flat, S$860 in a 3-room flat, S$650 in a 4-room flat and S$430 in a 5-room flat, if household income is up to S$1,500 a month per person. Half those amounts apply from S$1,501 to S$2,300 per person.

What is the income limit for Silver Support?

S$2,300 a month per person in the household, raised from S$1,800 in 2025. A couple living alone with S$3,000 of monthly income has S$1,500 per person and gets the full rate.

When is Silver Support paid?

Every quarter, in advance: 31 December for January to March, 31 March for April to June, 30 June for July to September and 30 September for October to December.

Do I need to apply for Silver Support?

No. CPF Board checks eligibility automatically every year and notifies eligible seniors by letter in December. You can check your status on govbenefits.gov.sg.

Can I get Silver Support if I live in a 5-room flat?

Only if you live in it but neither you nor your spouse owns it, for example in a child's flat. The payout is then S$430 a quarter at the full rate or S$215 at the half rate.
