What licence should a bridal boutique have?

  • CaseTrust accreditation

Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) · Optional accreditation

Voluntary fair-trading accreditation covering clear pricing, prepayment protection, written contracts and dispute resolution. As of mid-2026, the government said no wedding, bridal or photography business held CaseTrust accreditation, so you cannot rely on it in this sector.

How to choose a bridal boutique

  • Negotiate progressive payments, such as a deposit, then a payment after the pre-wedding shoot, then the balance on delivery. This is CASE's main advice after repeated bridal studio closures.
  • Get every deliverable in writing: the gown tier, number of outfit changes, makeup and hair sessions, shoot hours, locations, number of edited photos, album size and delivery dates.
  • Try on gowns in the tier you are paying for. Many packages require top-ups of a few hundred dollars for 'premium' gowns, so ask to see which gowns are actually included.
  • Check how long the business has been operating and its ACRA status, and look for recent complaints or CASE alerts before signing. Be wary of studios selling heavily discounted packages for dates far in the future.
  • Ask whether your package can be covered by insurance against vendor insolvency. CASE has suggested this for bridal packages.

Red flags

  • Full payment is demanded upfront or by a set date long before your shoot.
  • There is a time-limited 'today only' discount at a wedding show that requires you to sign on the spot. Packages signed in-store generally have no statutory cooling-off period.
  • The package lists 'gowns' without naming the tier or the specific gowns included.
  • Staff mention unpaid wages, appointments are suddenly rescheduled or calls go unanswered. These signs preceded past closures.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Can I pay in instalments tied to milestones rather than upfront?
  • Which gowns are included in my tier, and how much is a top-up?
  • How many photos will be edited, and when will I receive the album and soft copies?
  • What happens if the shoot is postponed for weather or illness?
  • If the studio closes or changes ownership, how is my package honoured?

Questions about bridal boutiques in Singapore

How much is a bridal package in Singapore?

A bundled package covering gowns, makeup and photography for the pre-wedding shoot and actual day typically costs $3,000–$8,000 in 2026. Premium studios charge $8,000–$14,000. Renting a single gown separately costs about $880–$2,200, and designer gowns cost $2,500–$5,000 or more. Check the gown tier carefully, since top-ups are common.

What should I do if my bridal shop suddenly closes?

Contact CASE with your contract and proof of payment. You can also file a claim at the Small Claims Tribunals while the company is still registered with ACRA. If the company goes into liquidation, you have to file a proof of debt with the liquidator. If you paid by credit card recently, ask your bank about a chargeback. Paying in stages limits your exposure.

Is there a cooling-off period for bridal packages in Singapore?

Generally no. Singapore's statutory cooling-off period covers direct sales made away from business premises and timeshare contracts. It does not cover packages you sign at a shop or wedding fair. CASE has called for mandatory cooling-off periods and prepayment protection, but read the contract and cancellation terms before signing.

Are bridal shops CaseTrust-accredited?

As of mid-2026, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said there were no CaseTrust-accredited wedding, bridal or photography businesses. That means no sector scheme protects your deposit, so negotiate progressive payments and written deliverables yourself.
