The Marina Bay light show is Spectra, a free light, laser and water show at the Event Plaza of Marina Bay Sands. Each performance runs about 15 minutes and needs no ticket or booking. This guide covers where to go, usual show times and how to get a good spot.

Location

Spectra is held at the Event Plaza, 2 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018972, on the waterfront next to Marina Bay Sands. The nearest MRT station is Bayfront (Circle and Downtown lines). Food options at the mall are covered in our Marina Bay food guide, which is handy before the show.

Show times

Guides published recently list the schedule as follows:

  • Sunday to Thursday: 8 pm and 9 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 8 pm, 9 pm and 10 pm

Times can change for weather, maintenance or special events, and we could not confirm them against the Marina Bay Sands website for this update. Check the official Marina Bay Sands page on the day you go.

Show length

Each performance lasts around 15 minutes, combining lights, lasers, music and water effects over the bay.

Best viewing spots

The Event Plaza gives the most direct view. The waterfront promenade near the Merlion Park gives a different angle, with the city skyline in the frame, though you will see the show from further away. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to get a good spot, especially on weekends and during school holidays.

Tips

  1. Arrive early: Crowds build up before the show, and standing room at the front fills first.
  2. Check the weather: The show is outdoors, so rain or haze can affect the view and sometimes the schedule.
  3. Bring something to sit on: A small mat or towel helps if you plan to sit on the grass or steps.
  4. Take your photos on a steady surface: The show is dim and fast-moving, so a phone resting on a ledge works better than handheld.
  5. Plan the way home: Bayfront station gets busy straight after the last show. Walking toward Promenade or taking a taxi or ride-hailing from a quieter point can be quicker.
