What licence should an IT support company have?

  • Cyber Essentials / Cyber Trust mark

Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) · Optional accreditation

Voluntary certification marks showing an organisation has put in place baseline (Cyber Essentials) or risk-based (Cyber Trust) cybersecurity measures. Useful when choosing a provider that will hold your admin access.

How to choose a IT support company

  • Define the scope: helpdesk, device management, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace administration, backups, network and cybersecurity. Then compare like-for-like retainers.
  • Get response and resolution times in writing, with any after-hours or on-site charges.
  • Insist that your company owns the admin accounts, domain registrar login and licences. The provider should get delegated access, not ownership.
  • Ask how backups are made, where they are stored and when a restore was last tested.
  • Government grants for digital solutions changed in 2026: the Productivity Solutions Grant closed on 29 September 2026 and Enterprise Singapore now directs applicants to the EDGE Grant. Check eligibility before you pay any deposit.

Red flags

  • The provider registers your domain or Microsoft 365 tenant in its own name.
  • No written service-level agreement.
  • Shared admin passwords with no multi-factor authentication.
  • No documented plan for handling data breaches.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What response times do you guarantee, and what does after-hours support cost?
  • Who owns our admin accounts and domain?
  • How often are backups tested, and how quickly can you restore?
  • How would you help us meet PDPA breach-notification duties?

Questions about IT support in Singapore

Is there a grant for IT solutions in Singapore?

The Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG), which co-funded up to 50% of pre-approved IT solutions, ceased on 29 September 2026. From 30 September 2026, Enterprise Singapore directs businesses to the new EDGE Grant. Ongoing PSG applications continue to be processed. Do not pay the vendor any deposit before your grant application is submitted, or the purchase may be disqualified.

What does managed IT support include?

A managed IT retainer usually covers helpdesk support, device and user management, patching, antivirus or endpoint protection, email and cloud administration, and monitoring, billed per user or per device each month. On-site visits, projects and hardware are often extra. Check the service-level agreement for response times and exclusions.

What must a company do after a data breach in Singapore?

Under the PDPA, organisations must assess a suspected breach promptly. They must notify the PDPC within 3 calendar days of determining it is notifiable, for example if it is likely to cause significant harm or affects 500 or more people. Affected individuals usually must be told too. Your IT provider should help with containment and evidence, but the duty stays with your company.
