Where to Find the Best Bugis Street Food: A 2026 Guide
Where to eat around Bugis Street in 2026: the market's snack stalls, Albert Centre hawker food, Queen Street and Purvis Street favourites, and halal options.

Bugis Street is best known as a budget shopping market, but the streets around it are one of the easiest places in central Singapore to eat cheaply. Within a few minutes' walk you have the market's own snack stalls, a large hawker centre at Albert Centre, old-school shops on Queen Street and Purvis Street, two malls full of restaurants, and the halal eateries of Kampong Glam. The nearest station is Bugis MRT on the East-West and Downtown lines.
An earlier version of this article named stalls and events we could not verify, so we have replaced it with places confirmed by recent published sources, each named below. Stalls change hands and hours change, so check before you make a special trip.
Bugis Street market
The market sits on Victoria Street, opposite Bugis Junction. In a March 2026 guide, The Honeycombers describes level 1 as the market's street-food area, with snacks such as tutu kueh, muah chee, Hakka yam cake, corn dogs, burgers and fried chicken. It also lists:
- Food Lagoon (Level 1, #59-63): an air-conditioned coffee shop serving Singaporean staples such as mee siam, chicken rice, laksa and satay. Seating is limited.
- Ned's Crepe & Coffee (#02-07): sweet and savoury crepes.
Published guides give the market's hours as roughly 10am or 11am to 10pm, and individual stalls keep their own hours.
Albert Centre Market & Food Centre
Albert Centre at 270 Queen Street is the main hawker centre for the area, a short walk from Bugis Street. The cooked food stalls are on the ground floor. It closed for a three-month renovation in 2025 and resumed operations on 5 May 2025, according to Seth Lui, which reported that most cooked food stalls had reopened and named these among the popular ones:
- Anthony Indonesian Cuisine: nasi padang
- Queen Street Nasi Lemak
- Queen Street Orchid Lor Mee
- Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice
- Pondok Makan Indonesia: Indonesian food

Queen Street
The block next to Albert Centre has two long-running rice stalls listed in Eatbook's April 2026 guide:
- Eleven Finger (Eu Kee) Scissors Curry Rice (269B Queen Street, #01-235): scissors-cut curry rice.
- New Rong Liang Ge (269B Queen Street): char siew and roast meat rice.
Purvis Street, Beach Road and Tan Quee Lan Street
Across Victoria Street towards Beach Road, the same Eatbook guide lists:
- Chin Chin Eating House (19 Purvis Street): Hainanese chicken rice.
- Treasure Toast (23 Purvis Street, #01-01): kaya toast and hokkien mee.
- YY Kafei Dian (37 Beach Road, #01-01): kopi and kaya toast buns.
- Yat Ka Yan (9 Tan Quee Lan Street, #01-03): Chinese desserts, including durian mousse and chendol.
Bugis Junction and Bugis+
If you would rather eat in air-conditioning, the two malls next to the market are full of chain restaurants and food kiosks. Eatbook's April 2026 guide picks:
- Una Una (Bugis+, #05-02/03): grilled eel sets.
- Xita Lao Tai Tai (Bugis+, #04-06): charcoal claypot barbecue.
- Shinfuni (Bugis Junction, #B1-K04): Taiwanese bakes, including apple pie. It is listed in the MUIS halal directory.

Halal food near Bugis Street
Many of the stalls above are not halal. The nearest concentration of halal food is in Kampong Glam, a few minutes' walk east along North Bridge Road and Arab Street, and there are MUIS halal-certified outlets inside Bugis Junction, Bugis+ and Bugis Village. Tips
- Go early for hawker favourites. Popular stalls at Albert Centre can sell out or close early.
- Check cleaning closures. Hawker centres close for a few days each quarter. NEA publishes the schedule.
- Confirm before you travel. Stall line-ups and opening hours change, so check the stall's own page or a recent listing.
