# Wedding Photographers in Singapore

Actual-day wedding photography in Singapore typically costs $2,000–$5,000, a 2-hour ROM shoot about $400–$1,200, and a local pre-wedding shoot $1,500–$4,500. No licence is required, and since 2024 bridal and photography studios have been the source of large CASE prepayment-loss complaints. Pay by milestone, and get the delivery timeline and photo ownership in writing.

## Licences
- **Unmanned Aircraft Operator Permit + Class 1 Activity Permit** (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), required): Required for any drone flown for business, including paid wedding or event photography, regardless of the drone's weight. Recreational flying rules do not apply to paid shoots. Check: https://www.caas.gov.sg/unmanned-aircraft/operator-and-activity-permits/
- **CaseTrust accreditation** (Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), optional): Voluntary fair-trading and prepayment-protection accreditation. As of mid-2026, no wedding, bridal or photography business held it.

## How to choose
- Ask to see two or three complete wedding galleries, not just a highlights reel. Full galleries show how the photographer handles dim ballrooms, tea ceremonies and group shots.
- Confirm coverage hours against your actual schedule. Gate-crash, tea ceremony and an evening banquet can stretch to 12+ hours, and overtime is usually charged by the hour.
- Get the number of edited photos, the delivery time for the full gallery and the album, and whether you receive the raw files written into the contract.
- Under Singapore copyright law, the photographer generally owns the copyright even in commissioned photos unless agreed otherwise in writing. Ask for a clause allowing your personal use, printing and sharing.
- If the package includes drone shots, ask to see the photographer's CAAS operator and activity permits. Many venues are near airbases or within restricted zones.

## Red flags
- You are asked for full payment upfront months before the wedding.
- There is no written contract, only a WhatsApp quote.
- The portfolio looks very different from the photographer actually assigned to your day. Ask who will shoot.
- Drone coverage is offered cheaply without any mention of permits.

## FAQs
### How much does a wedding photographer cost in Singapore?
For 2025–2026, full-day actual-day photography typically costs $2,000–$5,000, and premium names charge $5,000–$10,000. ROM coverage of about two hours starts from around $388 and goes up to about $1,200. A local pre-wedding shoot costs about $1,500–$4,500. Videography is usually extra, at around $2,800–$7,500 for the actual day.

### Who owns my wedding photos in Singapore?
By default, the photographer who took them owns the copyright, even though you commissioned the shoot, unless your contract assigns it to you in writing. Most couples don't need ownership but should ask for a written licence to print, share online and make copies for personal use, along with full-resolution files.

### Can my wedding photographer use a drone?
Only with CAAS approval. Flying a drone for business, including paid wedding shoots, requires a CAAS Unmanned Aircraft Operator Permit and Class 1 Activity Permit, regardless of the drone's weight. Ask your photographer for proof, especially for venues near airports, airbases or restricted areas.

### How can I protect my deposit with a wedding photographer?
Pay in stages tied to deliverables, get a signed contract listing coverage hours, photo count and delivery dates, and keep proof of payment. CASE has seen large prepayment losses from bridal and photography studio closures, including 66 complaints involving more than $271,000 from one studio in August 2026.
