## How to choose
- Ask for an all-in quote per tyre that includes mounting, balancing, a new valve and disposal of the old tyre. A wheel alignment is often a separate charge.
- Check the DOT code to see when the tyre was made. Avoid tyres that have sat in stock for several years.
- Match the size, load index and speed rating on your current tyres or door placard. EVs often need tyres rated for higher loads.
- Replace tyres in pairs on the same axle, and put the better pair at the rear for stability in the wet.
- Puncture repairs should be plug-patch repairs from the inside. Sidewall damage cannot be safely repaired.

### When should I change my car tyres in Singapore?
Change them before the tread reaches the 1.6mm wear indicator bars, which is the legal minimum. Many drivers replace earlier for better grip in heavy rain. Also replace tyres with sidewall bulges, cracks or deep cuts, and consider replacing very old tyres even with tread left, as rubber hardens with age.

### How do I read the date on a tyre?
Look for the letters DOT followed by a code on the sidewall. The last four digits are the week and year of manufacture. For example, 1225 means the 12th week of 2025. Ask the shop to show you the code before fitting so you know you are getting recent stock.

### Do I need a wheel alignment when I change tyres?
Not always, but it is worth checking if the old tyres wore unevenly, the steering pulls to one side, or you have hit a kerb or pothole. Poor alignment wears new tyres out faster. Balancing is different and should be done every time a tyre is fitted to the rim.
