# Time Calculator: Hours Between Times, Add Time and Weekly Timesheet

Work out the hours between two times (including overnight shifts), add or subtract hours and minutes, and total a weekly timesheet with breaks against MOM's 44-hour week.

## How this works
Hours between times subtracts the start time from the end time, then takes off the unpaid break. If the end time is at or before the start time, the shift is treated as running overnight into the next day, so 10 pm to 7 am is 9 hours, or 8 hours after a 1-hour break. Results are shown as hours and minutes and as decimal hours (8 h 15 min is 8.25 hours), which is what most payroll and timesheet systems use.

Adding and subtracting time sums each row in minutes, so 90 minutes rolls into 1 h 30 min. Start from a clock time to see when something will finish, across midnight if needed.

The weekly timesheet totals each working day's hours after breaks. Under the Employment Act, normal working hours are at most 44 a week, no more than 12 hours a day in total, and employees covered by Part 4 (non-workmen earning up to S$2,600 basic a month and workmen up to S$4,500) are paid at least 1.5 times their hourly basic rate for overtime, capped at 72 overtime hours a month.

## FAQs
### How many hours is 9 am to 6 pm with a 1-hour lunch?
9 am to 6 pm is 9 hours at work, or 8 hours worked after a 1-hour unpaid lunch. Five such days make a 40-hour week.

### How do I calculate hours for a night shift?
Count from the start time to midnight, then add the hours after midnight. A 10 pm to 7 am shift is 2 + 7 = 9 hours, or 8 hours after a 1-hour break. This calculator does that automatically when the end time is earlier than the start.

### How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60: 15 minutes is 0.25 hours, 30 minutes is 0.5 and 45 minutes is 0.75. So 7 h 45 min is 7.75 hours.

### What are the maximum working hours in Singapore?
Under the Employment Act, normal hours are up to 44 a week (9 a day for a 5-day week, or 8 a day for more than 5 days), and an employee should not work more than 12 hours a day including overtime. Overtime is capped at 72 hours a month.
