## How this works
Times are calculated with the NOAA solar position algorithm (from Jean Meeus's Astronomical Algorithms) for central Singapore at 1.3521°N, 103.8198°E, in Singapore time (UTC+8). Sunrise and sunset are when the top of the sun touches the horizon, allowing 0.833° for atmospheric refraction and the sun's radius. Results match the US Naval Observatory's tables to within a minute.

Civil twilight is when the sun is less than 6° below the horizon: there is enough light to be outdoors without lamps, so civil dawn is first light and civil dusk is last light. Golden hour here is the time the sun is between 4° below and 6° above the horizon, when light is soft and warm. Near the equator the sun rises almost vertically, so twilight is short (about 21 minutes) and golden hour lasts about 40 minutes.

Singapore's day length barely changes: it stays between 12 h 03 min (around the December solstice) and 12 h 12 min (around the June solstice). Sunrise and sunset still drift by about half an hour across the year because of the equation of time, the effect of Earth's tilted, elliptical orbit. Singapore also keeps UTC+8, about an hour ahead of its solar time zone, which is why sunrise is around 7 am rather than 6 am.

## FAQs
### What time is sunrise in Singapore?
Sunrise in Singapore is between 6:46 am and 7:17 am all year. It is earliest in early November (6:46 am) and latest in early to mid February (7:17 am). On 10 October 2026, the sun rises at 6:49 am.

### What time is sunset in Singapore?
Sunset in Singapore is between 6:50 pm and 7:21 pm. It is earliest in early November (6:50 pm) and latest in mid February (7:21 pm). On 10 October 2026, the sun sets at 6:54 pm and the sky is dark by about 7:15 pm.

### Why is sunrise in Singapore so late?
Because Singapore uses UTC+8, although at 103.8°E its solar time is about UTC+6.9. Clocks run roughly 1 hour 5 minutes ahead of the sun, so solar noon falls between about 12:48 pm and 1:19 pm instead of midday, and sunrise comes around 7 am.

### Does day length change in Singapore?
Barely. Singapore is 1.35° north of the equator, so daylight stays between 12 h 03 min in December and 12 h 12 min in June, a difference of about 9 minutes over the whole year.

### When is golden hour in Singapore?
Golden hour in Singapore lasts about 40 minutes in the morning and again in the evening. On 10 October 2026 the morning golden hour runs from 6:36 am to 7:17 am and the evening one from 6:27 pm to 7:07 pm, as the sun passes between 6° above and 4° below the horizon.
