## How this works
Self-employed persons with annual net trade income (NTI) above S$6,000 must contribute to MediSave. The amount depends on your age on 1 January of the work year and your NTI as assessed by IRAS. From work year 2025, net earnings from platform work are left out, because platform operators now pay CPF on them each month.

For NTI of S$6,001 to S$12,000, the rate is a flat 4% of NTI below age 35, 4.5% at 35 to 44, 5% at 45 to 49 and 5.25% from 50. From S$12,001 to S$18,000 it phases in: S$480, S$540, S$600 or S$630, plus 16%, 18%, 20% or 21% of NTI above S$12,000. Above S$18,000 it is 8%, 9%, 10% or 10.5% of the whole NTI, capped at that rate on 12 times the CPF Ordinary Wage ceiling: S$7,104, S$7,992, S$8,880 and S$9,324 for work year 2025 (S$7,400 ceiling) and S$7,680, S$8,640, S$9,600 and S$10,080 for 2026 (S$8,000 ceiling). Pensioners pay lower phase-in rates and 6% above S$18,000, capped at S$5,328 (2025) or S$5,760 (2026).

CPF Board sends a notice once IRAS has assessed your income, and payment is due 30 days from the notice. You can pay by PayNow or ask for a GIRO instalment plan. Like CPF's own calculator, the payable is rounded down to the dollar. Mandatory MediSave contributions qualify for full tax relief.

## FAQs
### How much MediSave does a self-employed person pay?
Below age 35 with S$40,000 of net trade income in work year 2025, you pay S$3,200 (8% of NTI). With S$15,000 of NTI it is S$960 (S$480 + 16% of the S$3,000 above S$12,000). Nothing is payable if NTI is S$6,000 or less.

### What is the maximum MediSave contribution for self-employed persons?
For work year 2025 the cap is S$7,104 below age 35, S$7,992 at 35 to 44, S$8,880 at 45 to 49 and S$9,324 from 50, based on the S$7,400 Ordinary Wage ceiling. For 2026 it rises to S$7,680, S$8,640, S$9,600 and S$10,080 with the S$8,000 ceiling. A 40-year-old with S$100,000 of NTI in 2025 pays the S$7,992 cap.

### Do platform workers pay MediSave as self-employed persons?
Not on platform earnings from 2025: the platform operator deducts and pays CPF on them monthly. Those net earnings are excluded from the NTI used for self-employed MediSave, so you only pay on other self-employed income if it is above S$6,000.

### When is self-employed MediSave due?
Within 30 days of the notice CPF Board sends after IRAS assesses your income. You can pay the full amount by PayNow or request a GIRO instalment plan using CPF's Manage your MediSave payable form.
