## How this works
CPF Cash Top-up Relief is given for cash top-ups under the Retirement Sum Topping-Up Scheme to your Special Account (under 55), Retirement Account (55 and above) or MediSave Account. You get up to S$8,000 of relief for top-ups to yourself and another S$8,000 for top-ups to family members, so up to S$16,000 per Year of Assessment. Top-ups made in 2026 count for YA 2027.

Family members who qualify are parents, parents-in-law and grandparents (no income test), and a spouse or sibling whose income in the previous year was S$8,000 or less (no income test if they have a disability). Only top-ups up to the Full Retirement Sum (S$220,400 for 2026 top-ups) or, for MediSave, the Basic Healthcare Sum (S$79,000) minus the existing balance earn relief.

We deduct the relief from your chargeable income and apply IRAS resident tax rates with and without it; the difference is your tax saved. All reliefs together are capped at S$80,000 a year. Top-ups that attract a Matched Retirement Savings Scheme grant (from YA 2026) or a Matched MediSave Scheme grant (from YA 2027) get no relief.

## FAQs
### How much tax relief do I get for a CPF top-up?
Up to S$8,000 for cash top-ups to your own CPF and up to S$8,000 for top-ups to family members, so S$16,000 in total per year. On S$120,000 of income, an S$8,000 self top-up saves about S$920 in tax for an employee under 55.

### Does a MediSave top-up get tax relief?
Yes. Cash top-ups to MediSave count, but they share the same S$8,000 self and S$8,000 family limits as retirement top-ups, and only up to the Basic Healthcare Sum (S$79,000 for 2026) minus the existing balance.

### When is the deadline for CPF top-up tax relief?
CPF Board must receive your cash top-up by 31 December 2026 for relief in YA 2027. Relief is granted automatically to your tax account, so you do not need to claim it.

### Can I get tax relief for topping up my wife's CPF?
Only if her income in the previous year was S$8,000 or less, or she has a disability. Parents, parents-in-law and grandparents qualify without an income test.

### Do MRSS-matched top-ups get tax relief?
No. From YA 2026, cash top-ups that attract the Matched Retirement Savings Scheme grant (up to S$2,000 a year) do not get CPF Cash Top-up Relief, and from YA 2027 the same applies to MediSave top-ups matched under the Matched MediSave Scheme.
