## How this works
Small businesses are usually priced on Seller's Discretionary Earnings (SDE): profit before tax plus one working owner's salary, bonus and CPF, plus depreciation, interest, one-off costs and personal expenses run through the business. The SDE is multiplied by what buyers have paid for similar businesses. The multiples here are BizBuySell's averages for US small business sales from Q3 2021 to Q2 2026, by sector and type of business: 2.58× SDE and 0.67× revenue across all sectors, ranging from 1.95× (transport and storage) to 3.28× (online and technology) by sector.

The range runs from the lowest to the highest average multiple among the business types in your sector, and the midpoint uses your sector (or the closest business type). A revenue multiple and the net assets (total assets less total liabilities) are shown as cross-checks. Net assets work as a floor: if the earnings value comes out below them, the assets may be worth more than the business as a going concern.

Owner dependence, recurring revenue, growth and customer concentration move the multiple. Lookup applies simple, visible adjustments for these (for example −0.5× if the business relies on the owner day to day, +0.5× if half or more of revenue is recurring). They are rules of thumb, not market data, and are shown so you can see which way each factor pushes value.

There is no public dataset of Singapore SME sale prices, so treat the result as an indicative range. For a sale, a shareholder dispute, or tax and legal purposes, rely on a formal valuation by an accredited valuer.

## FAQs
### How do I value a small business in Singapore?
Most small businesses are valued at a multiple of owner earnings (SDE). BizBuySell's sale data puts the average at 2.58× SDE across sectors, so a business making S$200,000 a year for its owner would be indicated at about S$516,000, before adjusting for risk and growth.

### What multiple do restaurants and cafes sell for?
Restaurants have sold for an average of 2.18× SDE and 0.39× revenue, and coffee shops and cafes for 2.27× SDE, on BizBuySell's data for Q3 2021 to Q2 2026. A cafe with S$150,000 of owner earnings would be indicated at about S$340,500.

### What is seller's discretionary earnings (SDE)?
SDE is profit before tax plus one owner's salary, bonus and CPF, plus non-cash and one-off items such as depreciation, interest and personal expenses paid by the business. A firm with S$150,000 profit, S$96,000 owner's pay and S$20,000 of add-backs has an SDE of S$266,000.

### Should I value my business on revenue?
Revenue is a rough cross-check only. Average revenue multiples range from 0.42× for food and restaurants to 1.21× for financial services, because margins differ so much between businesses; owner earnings are a more reliable guide.
