Nursing homes in Singapore are licensed by MOH under the Healthcare Services Act. Subsidised places go through an AIC referral and are means-tested: citizens get up to 75% off, PRs up to 50%. ## Licences
- **Nursing Home Service licence** (Ministry of Health (Healthcare Services Act), required): Every nursing home must be licensed by MOH. Hospice care within a nursing home is a separately approved specified service.

## How to choose
- For a subsidised place, get a referral from a hospital medical social worker, polyclinic or GP, or visit an AIC Link office. AIC matches you to a home with a vacancy, so location and timing may not be your choice.
- Do the Household Means Test early to see your subsidy band: for citizens, 75% at PCHI $900 and below, falling to 0% above $3,600.
- Visit at mealtimes and ask about staff-to-resident ratios, rehabilitation, dementia care and visiting hours.
- Compare the full monthly bill: consumables, diapers, medication, escort to appointments and laundry are often extra.

## Red flags
- Unwillingness to let you see resident areas or meet the nursing manager.
- Vague answers on extra charges beyond the monthly fee.
- Residents left in bed or chairs for long periods with little activity.
