# Corporate Secretarial in Singapore

Every Singapore company must appoint a locally resident company secretary within six months of incorporation, and a sole director cannot also be the secretary. ## How to choose
- Check that the provider is an ACRA-registered CSP. Unregistered providers face fines of up to $50,000.
- Ask exactly what the retainer covers: AGM documents or written resolutions, the annual return, maintaining registers (members, directors, controllers), and routine changes.
- Get the price list for non-routine work, such as share transfers, allotments, change of address, and striking off.
- If the provider also supplies a nominee director, ask how it vets and monitors nominees, as the 2025 reforms tightened this.
- Look for automatic deadline reminders. A late annual return incurs a $300 or $600 penalty.
