# Halal Food in Bugis: MUIS-Certified and Muslim-Owned Eateries

> Halal food around Bugis and Kampong Glam in 2026: MUIS-certified restaurants checked against the MUIS directory, plus well-known Muslim-owned spots.

Bugis and neighbouring Kampong Glam, around Masjid Sultan, Arab Street and North Bridge Road, have one of the densest clusters of halal and Muslim-friendly food in Singapore. It ranges from century-old biryani shops and nasi padang to dim sum, ramen and the halal-certified chains inside Bugis Junction and Bugis+.

Not every eatery here is halal-certified, and it matters which kind you are looking at:

- **MUIS halal-certified** means the outlet holds a current halal certificate from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS). Certificates are renewed periodically and can lapse.
- **Muslim-owned** means the business is run by Muslims and generally follows halal practice, but has not been certified by MUIS. Whether that is enough is a personal choice.

We checked every certified outlet named below against the [MUIS Halal Certified Establishments directory](https://halal.muis.gov.sg/halal/establishments) on 12 October 2026. Certification can change, so check the directory, or look for the certificate displayed at the outlet, before you eat.

## MUIS halal-certified in Kampong Glam

These outlets were listed in the MUIS directory on 12 October 2026:

## Muslim-owned, not MUIS-certified

Some of the area's best-known names are Muslim-owned but not on the MUIS register:

- **Zam Zam** (697-699 North Bridge Road): murtabak and biryani, on North Bridge Road since 1908. A Miss Lobang guide from September 2026 describes it as Muslim-owned but not MUIS-certified, and it did not appear in our MUIS directory search on 12 October 2026.

Eatbook's April 2026 Bugis guide also lists these Kampong Glam spots as Muslim-owned:

- **Mahmud's Tandoor** (20 Kandahar Street): tandoori chicken burgers.
- **Pancake & Waffle Place** (56 Kandahar Street): savoury pancakes and waffles.
- **Overrice** (41 Sultan Gate): Mediterranean rice bowls.
- **Smashed** (21 Baghdad Street): smash burgers.
- **PerghChicks** (23 Bali Lane): ayam percik wings.

Eatbook also describes **Husk Nasi Lemak** at Bugis Cube (470 North Bridge Road, #03-21) as halal-certified, but we could not find it in the MUIS directory on 12 October 2026, so check before you go.

## Tips

- **Check the MUIS directory.** It is searchable by name and address, and shows outlets with current certificates.
- **Certification is per outlet.** A brand certified at one branch may not be certified at another.
- **Prayer nearby.** Masjid Sultan, at 3 Muscat Street, is a short walk from North Bridge Road and Arab Street.
